Seating Capacity

The Al Hirschfeld Theatre has a capacity for 1,424 guests at most shows. This can change if productions require a different seating layout.

Seating Options

There are two primary seating sections within the Al Hirschfeld Theatre:

Orchestra

On the main floor level with the stage, the Orchestra has a raked floor that slopes towards the performance. Heavy decorations make this feel very classical theater-like.

Mezzanine

The second level, raised above the Orchestra. Guests can access this by taking 27 steps up from the Orchestra level. It is split into three sections by aisles, with high levels of decoration, metal railings, and a technical booth in the rear.On the Mezzanine level, there are approximately 2 steps up/down per row, and entrance to Mezzanine is behind row D. All areas of seating have excellent views of the stage.

There are also private boxes available at the venue. However, these can be difficult to purchase and more expensive than other seats. In general, guests advise sitting centrally and toward the middle of the auditorium. However, these seats are understandably more expensive. If you’re looking for a budget option, side Mezzanine seats offer a quality theater experience with a lower price tag.

accessible seating

The Al Hirschfeld Theatre is in a century-old building, offering limited accessibility features. For example, there is no elevator or escalator to the Mezzanine level. Guests wishing to sit in the Mezzanine must take over 20 steps, with two further steps between each row.

However, all ground floor access, bathrooms, and outlets are accessible. Dedicated wheelchair-accessible seating is available at the orchestra level, with seats usually available in rows D, P, and T. These come with companion seating possibilities. Vision and hearing assistance is also available through the box office.

Accessible seating for wheelchair users and guests with impaired mobility is available in the Orchestra section. Access to all parts of the Orchestra is without steps and there are no steps to the designated wheelchair seating location. The Mezzanine level is located on the 2nd level, up 20 steps.
